Timeline of Music Video History
This is a timeline of the history of music videos
that did ground-breaking things within the media industry. Every act and/or artist on this timeline revolutionised the way producers and bands looked at music videos.

Goodwin's music video analysis (Mcfly – Love is easy)
Goodwin's
music video analysis (Mcfly – Love is easy)
Music
video demonstrates genre characterThis is shown as we can see the band playing their various instruments. This could connote a rock or heavy mental drama. But, we can also see the singer on the left playing a pink ukulele so this connotes the pop genre. From this we can assume that this is a band of mixed genre. Such as a pop rock band.
Relationship
between lyrics and visuals
“Today, I’m
laughing the clouds away”
Here we can see the clouds above the lead singers head. This links what he is saying to what we (the audience) can see.

Music and
Visuals
Here we have a member of the band playing an electric guitar. This links the music and visuals because can listen to what he is playing as we watch him. The audience hears a guitar, and a member of the band can be seen playing it, as the audience listen to the music.

The
demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close-ups of the
artist and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their workThis is a close-up of the artist. This member in the band is arguably the lead singer, which is why the record label will include close-ups of him, rather than the other members of the band. It also makes the band more marketable as they have a front man to represent the bands image.
There is frequently reference to notion of looking and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body
There is no females in the entire video. This means that this theory of Goodwin can not be applied to the video.
There is
often intertexual reference
I’m a
celebrity, get me out of here
The intertextual references in this this videos are popular reality television shows, such as ' I'm a celebrity get me out of here'. The member of the band that actually won this reality show, can be seen wearing the kings crown, as he is king of the jungle.

Introduction to A2
This is my introduction to my A2 blog for year 13. This is where I will be posting all of my A2 coursework, and how I am progressing so far. Throughout this year I will upload many textual analysis of artists websites and music videos, applying different theories to them. I will also upload links to our group media channel of lip syncing practices and our prelim task, as well as our main task. I will be posting everything to do with my music video, and the A2 course, right here.
